Age: 22
Occupation: ex-student?
Emulator: Raine
Fox:
Whats the latest news about the raine emulator at this present time
?
I'm trying
to cope with a sudden increase in available romsets... It's hard
to much when the sun is always shining. I've just added some non-Taito
games:
Tecmo Knight
(c)1989 Tecmo
WWF SuperStars
(c)1989 Technos Japan
And ofcourse,
Jumping Islands, which in turn makes Rainbow Islands playable :).
I guess WWFSuperStars will be popular in a similar way to WrestleFest,
I hope romlist won't have too many 'nerd mails' this time... :).
Fox:
Whats the top 3 games that you would plan to be playable in your
emulator?
Liquid Kids
(a great game, but the only home-version is the pc-engine one...)
Bubble Sympony & Bubble Memories (joint second) Rainbow Islands
(where do you think the name raine came from?)
Fox:
Will the next version of Raine have any other sound support added
to the games, and if so which ones?
WWF SuperStars
has sample support (new game for the next version).
Jumping Islands
has music (YM2203).
Armed Formation
and Terra Force have some strange noises, which may or may not be
accurate soundfx! :).
Fox:
Is their any computer/console that you would consider emulating,
and if so which one?
I'd probably
only consider a 680x0 based system, and apart from the Atari Jaguar,
I can't think of any... (And I don't like the Jaguar anyway...).
Fox:
The Bubble Bobble games have become popular releases in your emulator,
will any additional ones be planned to be supported?
If the roms
become available: Liquid Kids, Bubble Sympony, maybe Puzzle Bobble
4... I can't think of any other unemulated Bubble Bobble type games...
Fox:
Currently what is your favourite emulator (other than Raine)?
Overall it's
zsnes, but recently neorage has been fun (rather a lot of boring
fighting games though)...
Fox:
In the current line up of supported games in Raine, which is your
favourite and why?
Bubble Memories...
I like that style of game.
Fox:
What gave you the inspiration to start Raine?
Romlist dumped
rainbow islands; the roms contained 68000 code; I knew 68000...That's
what started it in the first place.
Fox:
What are your overall main targets to be achieved in the Raine Emulator?
- Play the
games I want to play
- Learn/improve
my C/asm skills
And if it was
possible, I'd like to make lots of money from it, but unfortunately
that's not going to happen :(
Fox:
Any other projects planned in the future?
nothing emulation/computer
related...
Fox:
What emulator (working 100%) would you pay for? :)
Zsnes I guess,
but it's too late to start charging for it now... If I paid for
an emulator, I'd probably expect it to arrive on a cd along with
many of the roms it supports, otherwise it's a bit like buying quake2,
but finding it comes with no levels and you have to find and download
the levels yourself... hmm...
Fox:
What are your thoughts on the Emulators Unlimited site, if you could
improve it, what would you do?
Lots of nostalgia
sections... Interview old amiga people from the demoscene, archives
of amiga gfx, music, demos... Cover things other emulation sites
don't look at, like maybe when good pc demos come out, when a new
version of HVSids gets released etc... I guess most people into
emulation are also into other computer things?
Fox:
If you could shock the world of Emulation in 5 words what would
you say!
Wasn't the
amiga demoscene better?
